with & for Club de Bridge
In June 2023, we, as the Collectif Trouble took over La Folie, a suburban area at the limit of Poitiers and made it our home. The 2 days long festival was the closing event of a series of explorations organised by Club de Bridge and supported by the DRAC Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
In this non-space, we invited participants to join our journey. But how do you invite and host guests in a place that isn’t your own? Whose is it? What is it? Is it, even?
On the basis of all the knowledge collected and created collectively by the speakers and participants during the previous events, we inhabited La Folie together for one day and one night. This closing event was a celebration of the place and its qualities, a joint reflection on inhabiting by creating together; a physical and symbolic occupation of the place, as well as a relaxed and immersive exploration of time.

«how to inhabit?»
At the end of the performative walk and temporal detours, we settled down for the night with 30 participants of the journey. “How do we inhabit?“ is a reflection process organised around 3 topics ; how do we sleep, how do we eat and how do we share stories.
In charge of the wild foraging, a group is going back on the path of the walk, exchanging knowledge on what can we eat, how to prepare it and how tot ake care of the plant carrying it. In the meantime, a couple of people are preparing the fire to cook our home made bread in the making.
For sleeping, picking the right location is a strong motivation ; nearby the water for relaxing but not to close for the mosquitos, on a flat ground but not too hard, under some trees or hidden between hedges. Braiding tall grass provides us with a really comfortable mattress without having to cut them.
Organising an hybrid comfortable sitting space is crucial. Here we will eat, read stories we brought, exchange feedbacks on the day, tell each others secrets maybe. Some are even considering singing together to prepare for the long night in the wild, wild, peri-urban area.
Waking up the next day, we know we will miss this space we have been inhabiting together. How weird...
